Joseph POELAERT <\/b>son of Philip\u00a0POELAERT <\/b>and Isabelle Marie Th\u00e9r\u00e8se Marie STAS\u00a0<\/b>was born on 21 March 1817 in Brussels, he lived in rue du March\u00e9 au Charbon\u00a0no<\/sup><\/abbr>\u00a01028. Married to TOUSSAINT<\/strong> L\u00e9onie Marie. Renowned architect appreciated by King Leopold Ier<\/sup>
\nAt a time when the great powers were expecting the new kingdom of Belgium to disappear rapidly, Joseph Poelaert quickly endowed his homeland with architectural symbols designed to create in the minds of onlookers an impression of the antiquity, duration, power and existence of the State, by making its institutions visible in stone, as in the ancient European countries, and imprinting their mark and a feeling of admiration and respect on visitors. O<\/span>his work includes the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de la Monnaie, Saint Catherine's Church, the Royal Church of Laeken, the Colonne du Congr\u00e8s, the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de la Monnaie and, above all, the Palais de Justice. Officer of the Order of Leopold, Knight of the Legion of Honour, Associate Member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.\u00a0<\/span>He died on\u00a0
